I was so lucky to be able to travel back home to Louisiana for Christmas, but let me tell ya... getting all those presents packed and back to Texas was a big job. So now that Christmas has passed, and I've finally slowed down a little, I have had time to test out all the great gifts I got from my family and friends. Here are some of my faves that I received this holiday that you should definitely try!
1. Tarte Shape Tape Concealer
Okay, I know I'm late to the shape tape party. This is one of those makeup products that I've always wanted to try, but I just never bought. But thanks to my best friend, Bren, I will never use another concealer again. Honestly, the coverage is beautiful, it blends flawlessly, wears well from day to night, and a little goes a long way so it will last quite some time. Before this, I used the Maybelline Age Rewind concealer which I really didn't have a problem with, but the shape tape actually changed my life I think. You can get the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer from Ulta for $27 and they have every shade color under the sun.
2. Sperry Saltwater Rain Boots
Where I am from, we call these boots duck boots. And I know what you're thinking, "Hallie, you live in a desert now, why do you need rain boots?" Well let me tell you, besides the fact that they're cute and good for cold weather, they also came in handy when I was stomping around in the desert snow last night. Also, monsoon season... Duh! I believe LL Bean makes the original "duck boot", but Sperry is having a sale right now which makes them a tad cheaper than the LL Bean one + free shipping. Also, I just like the look of the Sperry version better.
3. Portal from Facebook
This was a cool and unexpected gift from my dad... I think it was also an excuse to buy himself a Portal too. At first I thought it was just like FaceTime, but it does a lot more than just video call. You can play music, download apps, search the web, and it has Alexa built into it. It works through facebook messenger, so you can still video call people that don't have a Portal, and the coolest part is that you can be hands free and move around the room and the camera will follow you, so it allows you to be mobile. My dad caught ours on sale, but they go on Amazon for about $169 if you have a prime account.
4. Beauty Counter Charcoal Cleansing Bar
So this is actually a gift that I got for Daniel, and he has been loving it so far. He has only used it for about four days, and he is already noticing a difference in the amount of breakouts on his face. Because of baseball and working out, Daniel's skin is always sweaty and more prone to breakouts, but if a skin care routine is too complicated, I know that he'll give up on it quickly. This bar is meant for all skin types and can be used on the face and body for deep cleaning. He uses it morning and night, and I think it's really working for him. It sells online for only $25 which may seem like a lot for a bar of soap, but it's made with all natural ingredients, and Beauty Counter is rated one of the top safest skin care brands. Plus, if you break the bar up into smaller pieces, it lasts way longer.
5. Lululemon Leggings
I have to admit, I was not a believer in the Lulu movement. I always thought, I don't have money to be spending on those leggings when my $20 leggings from tj maxx do the same thing. I was wrong, and I am now a believer. I still don't have money to be spending $100 on a pair of leggings, but Daniel got me these for Christmas, and let me tell you, they're worth every penny. He got me the "All The Right Places Pant II" style and as soon as I put them on, I could tell the difference in quality and material. I wear a size 6 because of my thick thighs, and I just cuff under the excess at the bottom. However, even though Daniel gets a pro athlete discount at Lulu, we probably won't be making any big Lulu purchases until next Christmas. This is more of a "treat yourself" kinda thing. (PS... for all my WAGs, if you didn't know it before, your man gets a pro athlete discount at Lulu... you're welcome. )
With that being said, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas holiday, and that you guys got amazing stuff too! Most importantly, I hope you had a blast celebrating with your family and friends! If you have any questions about these products, just shoot me a message on instagram or facebook, and if you have any product suggestions for me, send them my way! Have a happy New Year, thank you guys for following me this far, and I will see you guys in 2019!
